1:1 Technology Program Update

Beginning in the 2026-27 school year, the York County School Division will no longer permit students in grades 3-12 to use personally owned laptops for classroom use. Instead, all students in these grades will be provided with a division-issued device as part of the division’s 1:1 technology program.

This change builds on the division’s successful use of student devices since 2020 and reflects extensive teacher feedback and ongoing engagement with families. By standardizing devices across the division, schools can maintain consistent expectations for student use, reduce instructional distractions, and provide clearer support that maintain the focus on learning.
